A Silicone Gun (also known as a caulking gun) is a mechanical tool designed to hold and dispense sealant or adhesive from a cartridge. It provides the controlled pressure necessary to apply a smooth, consistent bead of material into joints, cracks, and gaps.
Key Features & Components
Plunger Rod: A metal rod that pushes the bottom of the cartridge to extrude the material. High-quality guns often feature a "dripless" mechanism that retracts slightly when the trigger is released.
Trigger & Handle: Ergonomically designed levers that allow the user to control the flow rate. A higher thrust ratio (e.g., 12:1 or 18:1) means less physical effort is required to dispense thick materials.
Cradle/Frame: The skeleton that holds the 280ml to 310ml standard cartridges securely in place.
